Do a search for "wheat for sprouting" they sell it for human consumption, so it should be just fine for cats as well. I just bought a pound of seeds and if they go over well I'm going to order in bulk.

That's a nice tool....I'm putting together a shopping list!I do suggest putting a velcro or elastic strap over both the grip and wrist brace portions. Watching the demos, I realized that it would be really easy to fumble it and end up with the hot wire kicking back onto your arm or fall on a leg or foot. While the wire does cool quickly, it's still a possibility and an easy precaution to take.
