Looks like Jay and Yoko beat me to the punch. Ditto what they said, it's always great to get another central Texan active on Ibles... Now they have some one else to call "that damn Texican".
Why isn't this on instructables yet? It looks interesting. As does the colour correcting you do in the same post. Both skills I need I think, my photos have definite room for improvement.
I think there are enough Instructables that illustrate just about the same thing, and there are better studio setups with Instructables written about them. Just look for mini photo studio or studio light box. I suspect I'd just get a bunch of people saying how crappy it is and rating it down if I posted it. If people ask how I take my photos, I can point them to that blog post.
The color correcting is mostly fooling around with the levels and maybe going through with the wand tool or paintbrush to remove extraneous shadows. I suspect there's a more elegant way of doing it with masks.
You can give it a whirl and see if it suits your needs or if you'd like a better setup which you probably will after a while. All the equipment is multipurpose or very inexpensive, so there isn't a lot of risk of dumping money into something worthless. Work lights, light bulbs, tripod, poster board, electrical tape. That's probably why I like it or would recommend it for someone just starting out with studio photography.
Huzzah! My first orangeboard message besides the Instructables Robot and random spam! And double huzzah for knowing the first law of Kiteman!
Unfortunately I do have a fair number of projects for not having been here so long. I can only say that most were going to be done anyway, so I went ahead and took pictures. It's a DIY household over here.
Both? It depends. The blog is supposed to be my peaceful, not angry, gardening side. I still get angry but I'm trying to recover or at least put that emotional energy to good use. I think as I age, the anger is subsiding.
