Found the solution to the wake engine after poking at comments over on gitHub. Have the USB mic plugged in BEFORE running the install script and make not to use "sudo" when running the wake engine startup and it works great! Next step, order the laser cut case via Ponoko.
What a great instructable! I've got just about everything working aall the way through step 11. Using the 7" touch screen for now. I can press the listen button and AVS hears me and responds! Very cool. I cannot get either wake engine to work though. They will not start the alsa stream. Anyone else have this issue?
