Modify a cheap LDC Condenser microphone

Ok so my microphones arrived today. It is a proper China experience: the two identical mics I ordered are very different. One has a great body which feels solid and when tapped lightly, does not ring or rattle. Also it has a nice metal trim ring so it looks nicer. The other one: I started laughing hysterically when I got my hands on it. It is so bad. When I speak into it I can hear the metal cage echoing like a spring reverb. And I have not even plugged it in.The electronics seem identical though. And I guess by applying glue or something to the bad cage I can improve the ringing.Still waiting for capsules, pcb's and components.

Hello my fellow European builders in despair.I contacted JLI electronics and they will send you the parts using much cheaper mail options ("USPS first class package international blah blah") by request but this will happen at your own risk. Understandably they don't offer this risky thingy by default.I'm about to order two JSB2555's (26 dollars total) and the shipping will be a reasonable(ish) 13 dollars compared to the 50+ dollars of the priority mail thing. It is much slower however, there is no tracking option and I believe it is also not insured and JLI electronics won't assume responsibility which they made quite clear.I am okay with all of that since I've never had problems ordering stuff from the US with the cheap'o'methods. And hey, if the 26 dollar components get lost...see more »Hello my fellow European builders in despair.I contacted JLI electronics and they will send you the parts using much cheaper mail options ("USPS first class package international blah blah") by request but this will happen at your own risk. Hi,I'm about to order 10 boards, just in case I happen not to fail and want to build a second one.. and a third one.. and fourth..I am going to report back to you with pictures as soon as I actually get my hands on the stuff. It might take a few weeks since I took the cheapest (snail mail - free) delivery option for the mics and PCB's.Thanks for your super-duper-awesome instructions. Who knows, I might actually build a working microphone without causing a deadly accident.

Heh. I just ordered two BM800's for donor bodies (total 30 euros delivered with shockmounts and wind shields). Now I'm thinking of actually ordering the PCB from China as well, I mean they do proto PCB's for nearly nothing. What's your take on this approach? I mean if the PCN maker is not a scam company it should work great?
