yeah, i suspect so too. all the info i found said that the ones sold as sea monkeys were bred to live longer, because the original brine shrimp only lived a month max, so i guess i wont try to buy any other kinds.
let me know how you like them
cheesey pretzel twists
I make this everytime i make ziti. I always make a huge pan of ziti and this bread keeps better and reheats better imo than regular garlic bread , so when we eat leftovers we still have bread too.
From all the info i could find when doing research to make sure i could keep them in a larger tank, it said that they are a hybrid, bred to live longer than normal brine shrimp. That normal brine shrimp will live less than a month usually. Sea monkeys can live up to 2 yrs. Ill have to look into it further, but I'm quite positive i read this in several places.
oh interesting.. i wonder if they are the same.. or if those are just brine shrimp
You're welcome! It is surprisingly good, i actually prefer it to mashed potatoes (and i really am a "meat and dairy" kind of person. Ive never met a food that butter couldnt improve.. ) Its also a bit more friendly to the waistline too.

yeah, could be used in any aquarium, for all manner of fishes. the price that they were charging for aquarium decor was a bit shocking to me lol. Sea Monkeys are actually a hybrid derived from brine shrimp and can easily live 2 yrs in the right conditions. they reproduce rather quickly too.. which is why i wanted to get them something a bit bigger.
thanks!.. they seem to like it too. and it really made the tank look better imo.
when you buy the sea monkey eggs they come with a packet of food, As best i can tell its a powdered algae (the packet lasts a REALLY long time because you actually don't feel them but maybe a 1/16th of a teaspoon every few days). You can order more of the food from the company that makes sea monkeys, but i'll probably start feeding them a home made food once this runs out. there are several sources of information on this that i have found on the web while browsing for their specific needs.

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-Fair... finally finished the instructable for my costume.. posting here as instructed, i just wish i could figure out how to adjust my cover photo since its cut off.. if anyone can tell me i would appreciate it!
thanks! its awesome to hear you say that, i was hoping people who might otherwise shy away from letting their creativity go on halloween due to budget constraints would be inspired to see what they can come up with. it means a lot to me to hear you say that =)
exactly, honestly, before i left it off i checked google and was reassured it just adds a shine/color. so i left it off to be sure i didn't ruin the integrity of the recipe.
I have always wondered hat beef wellington tastes like so i was super excited to try this. I didn't have any filet mignon left so i just used a well trimmed thick cut rib eye for each. a few comments, when i got to "put them in the oven" stage.. i came back in to double check (i dont remember it saying to use an egg wash on the whole thing before baking, but i have never made puff pastry without some type of wash) I didn't see the step here, so i didnt add it for fear of screwing up some crucial thing i hadn't taken into account. After seeing the final result I know i should have. (just letting you know so u can edit ur instructable). That being said, these were fantastic. (i will cut down a bit on the salt next time though). here is the completed wolf (I will be making an ible as soon as I get time)..and for those that asked..us together (btw on a sidenote, we won best overall at a local bar (200$-not bad considering most of this costume was repurposed -i think overall actual cost was under 25$ for both costumes... With the largest expenditure being on teeth/claws to save time- these could have been made out of sculpey or some like material for a few dollars as opposed to 12$) tonight, and will be going to another contest on Halloween) I'll let you know how that went lol.
(and ty so much for the input!!)
because I didn't bake the sculpey for the nose it actually did retain a wet look. The biggest problems so far are 1) hubby wanting to use his 'claws' on everything (especially me) has made the sharpie marker wear off the tips of his claws 2) him not being used to pressure on his nose(despite the fact that the mask is amazingly light for its size) made me want to add some type of padding for the nose. Just a sidenote ,I tried on/wore this mask a LOT during its creation with zero discomfort. That being said, my hubby has a bigger nose, as well as being more in tune with physical discomfort. He said it didn't so much hurt as he wasn't used to any pressure on his nose- when I wore it I didn't feel pressure.
it really does look so darn cute..I just want to cuddle him lol
thanks so very much.. was my first time trying my hand at making a mask and i'm pretty happy with the results, but i appreciate hearing it from someone else, since i might be biased lol
oki.. Big bad wolf completed.. only thing left for red riding hood is the cape.. Ill make sure i post a pic of us together once we are dressed
thanks, I've actually been having a lot of fun making it. I'm trying to properly photo document it all to be able to post an instructable on it.
lol. thanks ,
started getting serious today lol. put together the feet and legs (wont be as slouchy on hubby) did the feet as like sleeves for his old boots(one pic is before adding highlights with paint the other is more finished , will still make claws black) so if he ever needs them he can reclaim them. also started skinning(furring?) the mask.
this is coming out great!
is there a specific place to post this? (i did add a reply at the top there, but i dont see any other current replies so im thinking maybe it should have gone somewhere else?
thanks! i am going to cover it with fur, i actually have an old fake fur coat that i'm going to try to use. Red riding hood is so simple it seems almost silly to do an instructable, But I am taking pics of the steps in making the big bad wolf (with an instructable in mind) I figure even if i dont find time before halloween this year i will by next year lol.
coming along nicely i think.. spent the last few weeks refining ideas and gathering materials.. just started making hubby's mask today. keeping my fingers crossed that my ideas will translate into creations with minimal snags (we are going as red riding hood and big bad wolf) I made the snout and ears out of styrofoam and now i'm applying paper mache (only wanted a half mask so it wont obstruct his ability to drink if we go out xD )
Genie on a Flying Carpet Costume
Honestly, any of those categories would be fine. And thanks for the offer to help judge.
thank you! let me know how they come out.
