I've made a few projects for family and friends over the past couple of years using this technique. Great instructable! The attached pictures are an example of some Christmas ornaments I made for my family last year. For the wood, I used some slices from the previous year's Christmas tree. :) Two changes I made: use a credit card to get ride of air bubbles and to firmly attach the image to the wood, and instead of Mod Podge, I used a couple coasts of spray-on polyurethane. I believe this would add a little more protection and you could achieve a high gloss finish if desired.
I went big for my outdoor sofa. I used 4X11X8s. I liked the big chunky look it gave it. Also I added an extra 2x8 support beam in the back. For the finish I used a propane blow torch and torched it before sealing it in with a spar urethane to give it some UV protection. I also waterproofed the outdoor cushions with 303 Fabric Guard as well... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KMYYQ36/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Casting In Pre-made Molds
Hardwood Penny Board
Yikes! That MoldStar 30 stuff is pricey! I was looking for a way to create some concrete stone molds to create tiles to adhere to a propane fire table I want to make but it would be cheaper to be less creative and buy one at the store. Anyone know of any cheaper silicone or mold forming products out there?
Great suggestion! I actually considered using the iron-on hem tape but wasn't really familiar with it. I'll have to try it in the future. Thanks for the positive feedback and your vote! :)
