    Theant a little knowledge is a VERY dangerous thing! Your ignorance is causing you a lot of trouble by over-thinking. The 'aluminum wiring' problem was that the wiring would swell when hot which loosened the screws in the outlets. When a high current appliance was turned on, the current draw was excessive due to the natural resistance of the smaller connection. This in turn caused more heat which eventually destroyed the duplex outlet and the components shorted out internally which caused the fires. Modern outlets do not let this occur which has prevented more fires.Your FEAR of the flammability of aluminum is the biggest piece of garbage that I have heard from an adult! Flammability requires the application of a FLAME! Heat alone does NOT create a flame. Virtually all heat-sink...

If you have ever held a lap-top on your lap you would know that they do get quite hot at the battery area. The 60hz sine wave is exactly that and it never increases even with 240V which uses both phases of the 120Vs. No, TheAnt, it DOESN'T change phases by passing 0 volts as it NEVER goes below 0volts!
