With hot composting the volume doesn't change as the compost breaks down. Take another look at the article for the example. I find it fascinating!
http://tumblingcomposters.com/wptc/tumbling-composter-rm4000/This is the one I have but mine is black instead of green.
Thanks for your reply. I think I'll add some holes to my composter to help with this. Leaving the lid open for ventilation like I would want to do isn't an option until those bears hibernate. Although there are plenty of holes that it came with.
I think if I can find some barrels I'll make one like yours.
My tumbling composter is a mess! I don't know what in doing wrong. It smells to high heavens and attracts bears. The bear will soon break it if I don't get rid of the smell. My green brown ratios seem fine and it's not too wet. It's just gross. Other than leaves and grass what are some other Browns?
I've never put grass in it before and have never put meat, dairy or high fat things like avocado in there. And nothing that has ever touched these items has went in there. It's a putrid smell.I'm going to try some sawdust or wood chips to see if that helps. I turn it every few days 10 times.
My goodness, you are all so cruel! Nicely made instructable, it's clear and concise without jibber jabber and anything else to take your attention away. I wont condemn you for your picture, and I won't tell you the cars have to be ancient to have this type of lock. My 2011 cobalt has locks like this. It's not that old is it? Lol
