Note there are older instructions that might be better for some people:https://www.instructables.com/id/CONVERTING-A-LEAF...I used these instructions to make a repair to an already upgraded unit. Water got in, and the 20VAC supply died. I added an external 110V->9V transformer per the attached picture.People wanting a professional repair or upgrade consider http://evseupgrade.com/ though it is expensive.
Warning: these instructions have been superseded twice. The newest version is:https://www.instructables.com/id/CONVERTING-A-LEAF-LEVEL-1-12AMP-CHARGER-TO-A-LEVEL/?ALLSTEPS
FYI there's a professional option also: http://evseupgrade.com/They'll upgrade your unit for automatic switching use (works on either 120V or 240V depending on what you plug into).
There's a professional service to do the upgrade http://evseupgrade.com/ .I am not associated with the guy (though he lives in the same town as I do). You can try this for repair also: chances are whatever is blown in your unit will be fixed by the upgrade.
Yuck! Terrible soldering. Not a good upgrade.
Thanks, I used the central idea here to make a different repair.(The central idea above is not all that clear in the text: basically it comes down to having two separate power feeds for the 110V and 220V sides of the device). In my case the EVSE had already been upgraded by http://evseupgrade.com/ , but had become water damaged. I was able to hack in an external 110V to 9V transformer, and get it working again. See picture. Thanks.

Any bicycle store can supply a new bearing. Check to make sure the races are not too pitted or damaged.
