Raspberry Pi: Wall Mounted Calendar and Notification Center
One more thing to add... do NOT skimp on the power supply... it's amazing how much power a string of 60/meter WS2812b leds can use at full white.. I use between 200 and 256 LEDS on my TV's... Mouser has very nice 20amp 5vdc switching power supplies for about $21... well worth the investment
I've been playing with this for about a year... absolutely LOVE how it looks... but a couple of things I found out for my particular situation..I tried to stick with Openelec but just had too many problems. I always had to restart the hyperion service after a reboot and I also couldn't NOT get it to work with my Pi2 & 3. I switched over to OSMC and now it just works on my B+, 2 & 3... no problem at all.The STK1160 is another thing that caused issue after issue... especially with Frame too small errors... switched over to the UTV007 and those problem went away...
