I tried several times to print the head. I want as much of my projects as possible to be 3d printable but I just couldn't get the weight as little as I could with the polystyrene ball. Perhaps this is something you might be able to figure as an improvement for your build?

I printed all my parts with PLA plastic. I get mine from Prusa's shop.
View Instructable »Try looking for 120mm polystyrene balls in arts and craft shops. They tend to be cheaper from craft shops.Failing this, Amazon in Australia have some: https://www.amazon.com.au/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=polystyrene+ball+120&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Apolystyrene+ball+120

The parts were designed in SolidWorks. It's costly software that I get to use at work outside of work hours. :)Onshape is very close to Solidworks and has a free level. If your not sure what to use I would recommend starting with OnShape. https://www.onshape.com/

I printed mine in PLA. The parts don't undergo a lot of stress. The widest print is the half spheres at 195mm diameter. The tallest is the chassis at about 15cm high.
As above, diameter is 195mm and heights are about 100mm. Hope this all helps.
It took me about three months but I has to design everything from scratch. You could easily build it within two weeks. People on Thingiverse have reported about 2 weeks.Printing the base took my printer 19 hours. The diameter of the half spheres is 195mm (which makes it about 100mm high.)The tallest part (the internal chassis) is just under 15cm high.
