I like playing with circuits like this, but I use a chopper circuit to pulse the LED and save power. You give up some brightness for longer discharge time.
Resembles a Russian balalaika or as we would say, belly like a what? It looks very nice could have been a ukulele with one more string. Good work!
Finished a larger power supply with Volts and Amps, I had to calibrate the meters, but they are working well. I removed the trim pot from the P/S board and extended leads to a 100K pot, then I was able to go to 60Vdc, but thought that might be too high. So I soldered a 50K resistor from the low voltage side of the pot to the center "wiper" tab, now it goes a bit over 30Vdc and is working well. The trim pot I removed was 50K
