Your tarp can be made waterproof by turning it into silnylon. Its not that hard to brew your own. Mix paint thinner with 100% silicone caulk, and dip the tarp. Let it soak for a while, then wring it out as best you can. Then stretch it out to dry.Save the leftover for seam sealer and spot waterproofing in a gatoraid bottle.Results are ok, not as light as commercial silnylon but it should do.
