How To: Reuse Franzia (or any other "Wine-In-A-Box") or: A compact, airproof bag for liquids.
Whilst searching the internet "how to reuse wine box bags", I stumbled on this. As an avid maker and consumer of home-made wine, although I bottle the stuff for long term storage (reusing wine bottles is expensive), I wanted an easier way of drinking it from the 5 gallon glass jar. This is a fantastic idea - I just have to drink this 5 liter wine box quickly .. "oh the things I do for science".
How I built a sturdy roof-rack for a windsurfer/surfboard
The holes thru the sides is a good idea, I found in wet weather a lot of rain trickled thru on the webbing, that would probably minimize it. And yes 2 x 4 on the cross bracing, bit simpler but not as aero dynamic as metal rod. Actually the round rod was easier to push the windsurfer up, but in the big scheme of things, Im sure the wooden cross is fine.. Pleased I could help. And great pictures.
I loved this idea. Rather than spend $700 on a Yakima roof rack, i spent $50 in lumber, screws, foam rubber weather stripping, and ratchet straps. I used 2x4's for the cross bracing to make it simpler and 2x6's for the sides. I also put holes through the sides to make sure the rack didn't shift. Everything seems very sturdy. Thanks for the help!
