The description for the 2N2222 is going to cause problems - If you apply2V or 5V to between the base and the emitter, you will instantly destroy the transistor! You have to have a current-limiting resistor in the base circuit. Bipolar transistors are current-operated devices, not voltage, so the E-C current is controlled by the E-B current. Maximum base voltage is around 0.7V. If you need voltage operation, use a MOSFET.
