Its not. The battery used is 3.7volts compared to the 1.5 volts you would find on a AA battery. The 3.7 volts is converted to 5volts by a step-up circuit.
The extruder (and the hotend) itself, stays at a consistent level. The printbed moves down in tiny increments, to create a 3d object.
I setup auto bed leveling with the 8mm sensor recommended. After I updated my firmware, I pressed g28 in pronterface, but it did not move the sensor close enough(its too far to the right) to detect the bed.
