Harbor Freight (and other stores) sell a string of solar power lights with an auto dusk on feature. They are frequently offered on sale but they're less than $20.00 regular price. I've been using a string since last fall and to my surprise they hold up in weather and continue to work even on winters shortest days.

Nice way to make a useful tool, thank you for sharing.
