I have found that these cheap pointers are not designed for continuous operation. In normal use as a pointer, their duty cycle is very low. When operated continuously, they may last only 5 or 10 minutes and then die quickly. From what I can tell, these are all made in China by the same company so I would expect them all to behave similarly. Vor the 4.5 volt battery stack, the current is limited by a tiny smd 91 ohm resistor. I'd like to hear from others if they have had the same experience.
