About
Who ate the pies?

Thinking of Instructables: Its content and spirit should be a compulsory element of the modern curriculum. I look and see good people doing good things.

I have been a foster parent and tried to instill into our wards the happy feeling of making something from less promising materials. If they can improve throwaway plastic then their own lives can improved too.

I was brought up by Blue Peter, Tomorrows World, James Burke, Horizon, R.I. Christmas Lectures, et al. My Grandfather introduced me to the joy of science. As to a career, I started as a Chemist but after pulling duty on a Commodore Pet was doomed to be ‘IT man’. Later Worked and taught at a University for 15 years; I still enjoy lighting or feeding that ‘creative fire’ in people.

Having retired I still want to help make the world a better place. Things ‘Green’ get me all passionate - Check out Stirling Engines and CHP as a great way forward. It’s a hard fight but the vested interests can be worn down, just by increments.
