That was a great week. Very unhealthy but very good.

Do you know if there could be a problem with heat issues with placing the plexiglass that close to the LED's? It looks like it could trap the heat in there. I know the aluminum plate takes a lot of the heat away but I made a LED panel with them mounted on a aluminum plate but the front of the LED's get pretty warm after running for a long time. I want to add a plexigalss cover as well but am afraid it could trap in heat and cause problems. If yours stays cool then it will give me confidence with adding it to mine.

Nicely done. I see we both had a similar idea for a pocket sized kiridashi. You did a really good job getting that mirror finish. I usually don't do it becuase I don't prefer the look but also because I'm not very good or patient enough to get it as perfect as I would like.

This is a really great idea. I'm currently in the process of saving up for a cnc router and this will definitely be something I look at adding to it.

Thank you. I'll have to try this in my next round of experimenting.
View Instructable »Thank you. When I was writing this I actually was wondering the same thing but didn't stumble upon a recipe that called for that. I'm a little cheesecaked out at the moment but I may update this and do some with just yokes, some with just egg whites(whipped and regular), and some like you described. I imagine whipping the eggs would give you more of a Japanese cheesecake. Although they appear to use a good amount of flour to give it a more light and fluffy cake like texture.

Interesting. I would not have guessed that. Thank you for the info. Would you happen to know if you replace the sugar with the same amount of splenda or is there some ratio that should be used?
- IJustLikeMakingThings commented on IJustLikeMakingThings's instructable Wallet Knife25 days ago
Thank you. I originally thought about using a magnet as well but didn't want to risk damage to any of the cards in my wallet. I've read that magnets wont effect credit cards but it just isn't worth the risk for me. I am working on a second version where the sheath will be 3D printed, once my printer arrives, where I plan on making some sort of latch system to hold it in. I had a hard time figuring out a way to do this with a sheath made of gift cards. If you figure out a way to do it then I would be interested in seeing it.
View Instructable »Thanks for the info. I am updating this to put a warning at the front to have people make sure they can legally carry it where they live. It also doesn't surprise me that this would be illegal in California.

Thank you. Having a bandsaw has made cutting wood so much easier. Now I need a thinner blade so that I can do more scroll saw like decerative cuts.
- IJustLikeMakingThings commented on IJustLikeMakingThings's instructable Wallet Knife26 days ago
That would indeed work as well. I just wanted something a little more knife like.
I have not. I do not plan on ever risking it either. I don't want to have it confiscated.
View Instructable »I am familiar with those knives. I bought the original Iain Sinclair Cardsharp knife for my brother a couple of years ago. They are nice little knives and I've contemplated buying one but my handle on this site may indicate the kind of person I am. I had the material and just wanted to make something. But if you just want to buy one then those knives are a great option.

There is no good way to reply to a tip but this is regarding the magnet tip. I had considered a magnet but with all the different cards that I carry I don't want to risk ruining any of them. I've read that magnets don't effect credit cards but I don't want to risk it.

Thank you. I like the idea of always having a knife on me but I didn't want something that would be too big in my pocket. There are thin type knifes that are made for your wallet but I figured why buy one when I can design and make my own. Good luck making one. Hope it turns out well for you.
Thank you. I'm glad I could be of some help or insperation.

Thank you. This was my first attempt and luckily the metal was thin enough to heat treat without a forge. Hopefully someday I'll get to see your hatchet build.
- IJustLikeMakingThings commented on IJustLikeMakingThings's instructable How to Make a Knife (Stock Removal Method)5 weeks agoView Instructable »
You can use that to cut out the shape. Then all you need are some files to make the bevels and a hot fire to heat treat it.

Do you have to question everything I make? I'm just kidding. I'm glad you liked this project too.2)Because the material was thinner it wasn't actually that difficult. I don't think I could have done it with just a torch if it was any thicker. The back spike was really easy. The front blade wasn't too bad, it just took longer to get it hot enough.3) I think the handle should last quite a long time. Maple is a decent handle material but I'm worried that with all the hard impacts and bad throws where the handle hits the target it could eventually start breaking. I just didn't want to have to deal with removing epoxy if it did happen to break.I look forward to your next comments on my next project I'm working on. I'm using my grinder for it.

I have a scrap piece of leather that was a cut off from the sheath that I can use to better document the stitch. I'll add it to this soon to help you out.
Thank you very much.
Thank you. If the Forge is the only thing stopping you then you can always look into sending it out to a local place for heat treatment. Or you could go onto some knife making forums and see if a local knife maker will do it for you.
View Instructable »Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. I don't have nearly the experience you have so it is great to hear those compliments from you. I figured I am experienced enough to understand the basics and my goal was to hopefully do what other knife making tutorials did for me and that is to show its not that difficult and lot of fun to make your own knife. Someday I hope to have my own shop and the right tools but until then I'll make do with what I have and improvise when needed.

Thank you. I've heard you can also use Mustard or Lemon juice as well.
Thank you. Usually that look is from the knife being hand forged but I don't have that capability yet so I just mimicked that look. I should depend on the grade of bolt you used and if you lost the heat treat while making it. You could try hammering a couple times and see if it dents the hammer at all.
View Instructable »Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. 1) I did quite a few knives on a department store sander but this one is has made my life so much better. Highly recommended if you do much metalworking.2) thank you. I thought it turned out well but I've never shown any of my knives to such a large audience so it's nice to hear others think so too.3) I look forward to seeing it. I plan on making a new Forge eventually so I'd like to see your design.

Nice simple design. With the indirect heat are you able to get the steel hot enough to heat treat or forge? For mine, I have to have the flame directly on the steel to get it hot enough. But my chamber is larger than yours.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Minecraft's pixel style makes it difficult to make it out of materials like metal or wood. Papercraft makes it easier but isn't usually as functional. I wanted something functional so this is what resulted.

That shelving unit looks nice. Are the shelves attached in any way to the pipes? I would be afraid that you could bump it and a shelf could fall off of the pipe. Don't want all those cameras falling off and potentially breaking.
