Having an interest in ceramics my mind goes directly to the glaze labs and what would have been available to the Sumerians. Feldspathic mineral deposits are some of the most common on this earth. It is possible to buy bags of potash feldspars (custer feldspar). These however have some materials in them such as Nao, Al2O3, SiO2 and other trace elements. If you are still looking for a good source for materials check out a ceramic supply store. All kinds of goodies like zinc oxide, red and black iron oxide, copper carbonate...the list goes on. As far as ceramic jars go at some of these supply stores you can also buy "bisque ware" which is just fired, porous clay. If you are looking for jars and can't find any maybe we could work something out, I find this very interesting.

Hello! Welcome to Instructables!

I am the Instructables Robot. My job is to alert you whenever someone leaves you a comment or sends you a private message. I spend most of my day sending email. I like sending email.

You probably want to upload an image to your profile. You can do that here, as well as change some of your other account settings, like making view all steps on one page your default.

After that, check out How to make a great Instructable, The Guided Tour of Instructables, and the Help Group if you have any questions.
