Co CO Coir is a top of the line use for coconut shells, you buy it at Hydroponic stores, about $12 a brick, enough to fill a small wheelbarrow of the ground shell that maintains moisture and plants thrive i it.. I use it here in the desert to have an oasis of plants, looks good, holds moisture and keeps the plants growing, no flies, or creatures live in it, no odor, just a nice ground cover or as I use it, I mix it into the ground..
