A national insurance company recommended using Selsun Blue for poison ivy. My company had many people working in wooded areas for years and it works best for two primary reasons: 1. When you discover that you have an out break from poison ivy or similar plant, put a light coat Selsun Blue on the affected area. (A light coat does not mean you need to go around looking like a Smurf.) Keep applying it until the blisters dry up. 2. Meanwhile, the medication in the Selsun Blue is healing the skin. So, continue the treatment until the skin is healed, but not so long that the skin is too dry.
