    How to Buy from China

I have bought loads of things from Aliexpress and mostly came up with nothing delivered or fake items and money gone. If I ordered small price then yes they deliver, hoping that I will buy bigger amounts next time. If I bought something expensive I was almost guaranteed to get scammed and indeed aliexpress finds in favour of the seller even when you have 100% proved them to have scammed. Note that aliexpress is based in Asia! I bought herbal powder and got some watery chalk send up. Goodbye 100 dollars. I bought security cameras 5 times and all fake just nothing inside the plastic or some components but clearly not any design that would or could work. Goodbye 350 dollars in total. I bought big lot of window alarms that was missing key components. Fit in a battery and alarm went off imme...see more »I have bought loads of things from Aliexpress and mostly came up with nothing delivered or fake items and money gone. I bought big lot of window alarms that was missing key components. Fit in a battery and alarm went off immediately. No triggers inside that could ever turn the alarm on if window was opened. Goodbye 100 dollars. I bought one lot of 8GB micro sd cards and they were fake. Goodbye 120 dollars. I bought special price 2 pieces of 64 gb for 40 dollars total. Fake this means they are 128MB only. Lot of 100 rechargable batteries 3000MAh all fake. Hold around 200Mah at most. Contain flour. Solar charger controller dangerously overrated and catches fire. In all these cases I did not get a refund from aliexpress. I did get a refund for non delivery of one item. The small cheap things arrived but are clearly badly made. I asked the seller of a tap what to do because the thing was so crooked it leaked. He kept me hanging. What can you do. It is leaking but it is a tap. From China. It is actually this badly made stuff that turned me to making all electrics myself and hence I ended up on this site. Instructables because you are better off making it yourself! ;) If there is anyone who can make a real link to direct factories in China then post it but so far this just seems like a big commercial attempt, correct me if I am wrong there and post real links. You see Aliexpress is just a place where anyone can advertise items, even when they do not have them but know where they can buy them. You see a loverly picture of an item, but you could well be dealing with a small trader who simply orders the item from a chinese website (in chinese) and posts it out to you once he has it. I have looked with chrome translate on chinese sites and they are much cheaper. But still these are probably not the manufacturers of the items. That said dealing with a manufacturer directly will only guarantee you a better price, not better product. As with ali, you will not get a refund. Be a geek. Build it yourself.

    Intro to LED Strips

How do I just install a 5 m led strip. It is just the strip. I have got a 12V adaptor salvaged from some other device. What else do I need? I want to put the strip on a piece of wood and have wires and soldering. I do not want the strip to burn out and read about constant current and voltage drop and such things really scare me. Should I be concerned? What is needed for a long life ambient light in the living room? I do not want to put the strip on max light as I heard it will burn and use a lot of electricity. I want slightly lower light that uses less and lasts longtime. I need it cheap and am recoursefull but need an instructable.
