what shield do you have? I'm looking for a compatible shield
Yes you can. They are the same transistor in two different packages. The one he uses in this project has a TO-39 package. The one you want to use it a TO-92. :)
Is it possible to use an atmega328? Does it need a change in coding to make it work? Can I use just a standard arduino uno with the atmega328? Thanks ~ Joe
Would this work for both the ribbon cable and the header? I could cut the male end off and solder it to all of the LEDs and connect the header to the board and attach it to the circuit?https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OERE7PE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472234973&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=26+way+header&dpPl=1&dpID=41U2yt7tUyL&ref=plSrch

The Word Clock - Arduino version
No. Amazon has them pretty cheap. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0185FGYQA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1464227860&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=10k+resistor&dpPl=1&dpID=41GhcKWBo6L&ref=plSrchI recommend them to anyone who wants to build this. If anyone wants a parts list to see where I bought everything, just comment above and I'll get back asap.
Do you have the optocoupler bypassed in the computer PSU?
I've made it. It WORKED great for a while. The the next day, I fired it up, and nothing. It stopped working and still can't figure out what's wrong with it. I'm using a 12v 10A power supply. maybe not enough current? Idk.but I do recommend this to others looking to build this.
