I have been using a 4.8V Bosch drill on 7.6V for several years, and no undue overheating, and on inspection no discoloration of the windings. These animals are fairly tough and forgiving.
I was taught (55 years ago), that the angle should be 57º not 60º ???
A tutorial on building voltage dividers and the calibration of it for use with these scopes could be useful exercise. And maybe a easy to build shunt to measure current and current waves for us not-so-well-versed-in-electronics types.
