Thanks for the instructable! I think I have all the parts needed, Raspberry Pi, PIR sensor, and spare Android phone. I already use IP Webcam on my front door and iSpy Control on a PC to detect motion and record video clips. But the wind blowing trees and other things cause a lot of false motion detection.I also just tried out Salient Eye mobile Securityhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com....For that all you need is the old Android phone and it detects motion (not necessarily people or faces) and can alarm, email, and/or sms. Only took about 10 minutes to install, setup, and test.
