SALT AND WATER ETCHING
Finished a pair! I sewed the scales to the backing piece on the 4 back rows and riveted just the top row - less costly than riveting 66 rivets (33/each). I used two snaps on each cuff, but I struggle with the snaps as my success rate is only about 75%. I get way too many that set crooked, some that don't crunch down all the way, and today I had one where the top 'nipple' sheered off. I wish I could figure out how to set them consistently well. Thanks for sharing this tutorial - I look forward to wearing my dragon scales out tomorrow night.
Leather Mini Dragon Scale Bracelet
I haven't finished making it, but I thought people might benefit from this template I drew, based on the photo with your template and the ruler. The image and be downloaded and scaled to match the measurements shown. I have a medium-small wrist, women's, and the measurements seem right for my size.Great idea - thanks for sharing it!
Leather Patchwork Table Runner
I used your instructable to make a bed for my van. The 1x3"s slats were kind of too flimsy and I ended up decking the whole thing with 1/4" underlayment plywood and adding a little bit of support along the long centerline. I should have stuck with your plans, but I thought I could get away with it since the bed size was a "three quarter" size (48"x72"). I used shorter screws because that was what I had laying around, but it seems fine. The photo is a progress pic. One of the slats is at a bit of an angle (oops), but it didn't seem worth fixing. Good advice on squaring up, on making the dimensions slightly smaller than the mattress, and on leaving the gap so the bed doesn't squeak.
