You could always use a hacksaw to quickly cut the copper pipe. It won't be as clean as with the pipe cutter, but it can be easily cleaned up with a file.

Great -ible! I live in a 200 year old house, so our insulation is pretty terrible and all our windows are single pane glass. My bedroom is on the north side of the house, so it gets the least sun and is always the coldest room in the house. I was curious about a simple way to beef up the windows and this looks perfect.

I'm with you, it's nearly impossible to find cat litter without added scents or "odor absorbing" crystals, unless you purchase online. In which case you might as well order powdered bentonite clay. However, I ended up grinding some that had the odor absorbing crystals and just filtering out the crystals through a screen. I used maybe 8-12 cups of cat litter and had more than enough clay for about 2-3 gallons of greensand that works perfectly.
