Sounds like a great process to remove rust and oxidation. One nice way I keep my tools in good shape is to rub them occasionally with Butcher's Wax. It is a great way to protect BOTH metal and wood. So your old screwdrivers and saws with wooden handles will love you for it!

I have heard of using cola to clean rust stains out of toilets, so it might work for removing rust from tools. give it a try and let us know how well it worked.
I have also heard that coca-cola can be used to remove rust.

Just leaving an option for other readers.I also tapered a hollow aluminum arrow shaft (aluminium for the Brits).Both ends are solid for the head and nock strength. The tubes aren't threaded though.
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately it looks like the nearest hobby lobby to me is over an hour away. I originally was looking for the photo album extenders at my local arts and craft stores (michaels, etc) but they didn't have any in stock at the time so I went to Lowes and got the Chicago screws instead.
