Retired from 40 Years of Selling , Repairing , Designing, Building and Servicing computers. From the original IBM PC and Macintosh to present. Enjoy developing new loT projects. Working with new technology. Learning something new is my personal challenge. I have now purchased a new 3D Printer from Tinkerine. I'm getting back into CAD software and using fusion 360 to help design new products. (Tinkerine is based in Vancouver, BC, Tinkerine is a Canadian 3D printer manufacturer the educa... Read More »

    Cheap and Easy Bed Holster

Wow, It's very hard for a Canadian to understand the concept. Even-though we eat the same food, drink the same, drive the same cars, make the same DIY electronics stuff marry and have kids and so on. Americans it appears from the stats you provided live a very different life. The only people that have guns are the cops (RCMP in most cities) and the drug dealers. Very few people in Canada own guns (A few do but its for hunting and target shooting and its less the .02 % of the population. Most kids grow up and never see one except for boarder guards and the RCMP. So I was a bit surprised when I saw the project. The only thing I can add to your project is some kind of safety feature that will allow you to use the gun when you need to but at the same time make sure it can't be used by unaut...

The only thing I can add to your project is some kind of safety feature that will allow you to use the gun when you need to but at the same time make sure it can't be used by unauthorized people. Now that you really be a good project to work on. It would have to be completely automatic and would need to have something like a watch or ring that would allow the gun to fire. I'm sure someone has worked on this before. Anyway good luck folks keep safe...

    Off Grid Power Supply

Nice project, I due have a few ideas to make it a bit better. (1) Use a power Inverter with Charger and Built in Automatic Transfer Switch. They also condition the battery so they lasts longer. (2) Use a AGM Battery: The benefits of AGM deep cycle batteries are the slow self discharge rate and lack of corrosive gas.

    Bluetooth Based Home Automation

This looks interesting. It's an Apple Store App so it was well vetted by Apple for any know problems. The UI is very clean and overall a nice looking App. I will see how well it works with my project and report back. Thanks NivebhaB for the followup.

    Jump a Dead Car Battery

One thing to keep in mind, if your battery is low or dead and you need to start your car it's the starter motor that you need to connect to not the battery! Once the car is running, and you remove the negative cable clamp from the engine ground then the positive cable clamp from the batteries positive post. You're charging system then will take over. If the battery or alternator is damaged the battery will not keep a charge. (I repeating what other have said) If the battery has a dead cell ,connecting a good battery directly to the dead battery will overheat the dead battery in seconds. The electrolyte solution inside your battery is a mix of sulphuric acid (35 per cent) and water (65 per cent). Getting sulphuric acid in your eyes and on your skin will send you to the hospital with serious burns. Alway use eye protection when working with a car battery!Note: an electronic booster box will detect a dead cell and will shut down, a car battery will not!
