I'm amazed how people get angry with dealerships for doing what THEY WERE TOLD IT WOULD HAPPEN if they failed to pay. I agree, problems happen and any reasonable dealer will give you a grace period or a partial payment if you had an unexpected situation and have proof of it (let's say you got sick and worked less hours) but it's entirely up to the dealer if they do you the favor or not, remember, you signed a contract and you assumed a responsability, period. Try calling your credit card or your local electricity company and tell them "hey I don't have the money right now, can you wait a couple of weeks and not charge me any late fees?" Believe me, if I had a dollar for every time I hear the "I'm a single mom/ disabled/ minority so you need to help me" story I would have payed off my current car. People, it's simple math, don't buy what you can't afford, easy as that. You can't afford a newer car? Buy a $1500 beater that will take you from point A to point, find a local shop to get it serviced for cheap, and by local I mean local, not the local Jiffy Lube and you won't own any money for that car.
