60 years ago we used clear nail polish on chigger bites. It worked very well and would crack off after some serious sweaty play-time. By then the bites were beyond the itchy stage. I never heard of anyone with an allergic reaction. I don't remember trying it on mosquito bites because the theory was that chiggers burrow into the skin and were suffocated by the seal made by nail polish. Skeeter bites are different and I think nail polish probably wouldn't be helpful.

Last month I visited the new location of Green Man Brewery in Asheville NC and at least one of their large landings on the way upstairs is covered in pennies. Many people on the tour commented on it. It was very impressive.

Brilliant - simple - inexpensive - many possibilities. I can see this in the corner of my sewing room with laces, yarns, etc., and another one for the grandkids' Legos and other toys that can be grouped together, with their artwork on the outside. Wow!

There are extra long needles available for this type of project. I had one that was about 4" long and used it with upholstery thread on the same type of cushion. I needed to compress the foam a bit to get the needle all the way through, but it worked. You don't need to pull the thread very tight. Be sure to mark the places where you want the buttons, otherwise your cushion might be lopsided. This also works with throw pillows that have lost their shape.

In my Florida hometown, the Spudnut shop was famous for their potato donuts. I made a stop there each time I visited, but alas, no more relatives there and I live out of state, so I'll give this recipe a try with mashed potatoes (spuds).
