Sounds like you have a custom project to work on. I would pep only the back of the torso and try to line it up with the recon front. Before it gets glassed you could even add cardstock in key areas and customize it a little. You could also pep the whole torso and simply add the recon to the front, not sure how that would look. Personally I use foam for my projects, I would make a recon front and an MKVI back and then cut and add foamies until it lines up and still looks good.
