About:An electrical engineer by trade and a creator by DNA, Monolith Fab is my outlet for a creative addiction a long time in the making. My familiarity with tools was forged at an early age working with my tradesman father in the sweltering heat of Phoenix summers. At 18 wood proved to be my gateway material when I built a model sailboat for my girlfriend as a gift to give her alongside a birthday sailing excursion. I was hooked after that one sailboat. Every new project meant a new tool, a few new techniques, and at least a dozen mistakes to learn from. A few years later I picked up a college job working at a woodworking supply store that specializes in exotic hardwoods. This experience gave me an appreciation for quality tools and materials. A few years ago I graduated to the hard stuff when I took a welding class. The creative floodgates opened once I was introduced to metal and I can now regularly be found doing experiments with new materials in the garage and reading books like Manufacturing Processes For Industrial Engineers. Recently I won the creative lottery when a TechShop opened near me, and I now I lay awake at night thinking about things like how to achieve a brushed texture on metal surfaces or different CNC friendly joinery techniques as my brain struggles to catch up to all the new creative capability available to it. I strive to make creative items that spark the imagination and are of a quality level that has lasting value.
