    Steampunk Christmas Candle

My Prototype candle just laid together. Still waiting on communities help about led brightness in my previous postings in this instructable. By the way very nice project I can not wait to see it completely finished hole drilled mounted on stained box or brass box made out of sheeting braised together and pollished.

I was going to place slow color changing leds into it but was unsure if it would work being my first attempt at this type of item. I normally build low cost x ray units and sophisticated water purification systems for the U.S.A. Government. I did bridge the resistor by the diod and the led brightened some I just did not want to damage the pcb they are like pulling teeth now to find.

I think I was misunderstood??? What software do I install into my ARDUINO the code from https://pastebin.com/9UGAQrTy or this http://www.ambibox.ru/en/index.php/Download_AmbiBo.. I am unsure what to program my arduino with. Then I see other links like this one https://www.instructables.com/id/Ambilight-System-for-Every-Input-Connected-to-Your/ in the other messages so please what code links do I follow that need to be programmed into the microcontroller?

    Cheap DIY Ambientlight Using Arduino

If you look into the led on the small pcb inside they have what wire is gnd data and 5V and a arrow for what direction the data flows. in most cases you want the female end to input data into power can go from both ends and I recomend doing that to compensate for the power lose accross the leds with the voltage drop that accures in the WS28xx sweries.

    DIY Botanical Wall Art

Awesome project. May I add a suggestion in here??? Maybe try to add some led lighting in it in the bottom and maybe top pieces of wood by cutting a second slot in the wood to accommodate the led strip lighting. IDK if RGB led strip lighting will highlight this beautiful art or not it was only a suggestion. I do know how led lighting does accent great art though that is why I added it in for you. They have clear wire almost invisible to sight that could run down the side or even inside the art mixed in amongst the foliage to hide it or add a ful wooded frame is another idea to improve this beautiful art. A good looking frame always adds glamore to great art. I was going to say good wood but it sounded not right lol...

I should have added when you add the led lighting if you do it must be at the very bottom or top of the plastics used to encapsulate the foliage ok. My bad i am sorry I thought it was framed at the bottom and top when I wrote the suggestion. You could cut the slots for the led's then add brass screws to hold the plastic in place much the same way as you did in this art. If you still are lost to my meening please send email with questions and I can explain much clearer ok. Also if you have a friend who does codeing or programing you could add arduino into it to control the lighting for the colors...

For the led lights series WS28XX (WS2812b, WS2812, WS2811) if you look into the clear plastic you will see a arrowhead this is the direction the data travels so start on the end that has the female JST connector or the start of the flow. You need to COMBINE RESISTORS IN SERIES to get the 370 OHMS required by the maker of you lights or use 1 correct value if you have it in the required value. Now you can use adjustable pots (trim pots) as well buy the cheap flat ones they take less real estate on your pcb when you place all this in a project box to make it look nice and neat. I used a 12V dc battery pack from Amazon.com with the jack that hooks up to the batteries this way I power the arduino and my lights. I have this product ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LFRTIK/ref=ox_sc_sfl_...

So this may be different for Black, Green, Green/Yellow wires. I do not know as of yet. I ordered 6 sets of 500 in each of the wire colors they arrive Tuesday 10/10/2017. Now only if Amazon did not take my shipping cost again and deliver late. But any how back to this tip. I will know more when my WS2811 arrive. I ordered them to build some Christmas outdoor decorations and some Halloween and Easter decorations. I will try to make Instructables on them but I need some help please. This is the first time I am using the WS2811 lights ever I normally use regular RGB Led's and make my own strings of whatever I need. Now I need to know of a program if any that has a rainbow fade effect to go between a pre selected color pallet, A random rainbow fade and or blink code and then one that is just solid colors in one shade with pastel colors I could use for the Easter decorations. If there is maybe a meteor shower code or a music effects code to work with the strings that would just be the perfect solution to all I need. I do not know of any of this that will work with the IC in the strings I have not researched them enough yet I only seen them for the first time last Wednesday night 10/04/2017 when I was researching Holloween items. I love this web site seriously love it. I seen this build ( https://www.instructables.com/id/Jack-o-LEDtrix/). BTW NICE JOB ON THIS INSTRUCTABLES Very well put together I only hope my decorations instructables will be half as good. I am stil editing my 3000 man hours build with videos for my ALICE:RED QUEEN build I made. That may take 2 years just to get it ready to make A instructables out of it LOL....any how it is at the stage of me building the PCB for it and assembling prototype boards to test the software I frankensteined together... I will be making this build also for a birthday party for my nephew next Saturday 10/14/2017 when I have my orders off AMAZON.COM I will post pictures and comments with twitter and facebook comments from the guests at the party. It is amazing how people react that know you your entire life and just find out you know how to do this type of stuff. PS I can not wait to get any code for music to make a mock up christmas of easter display PLEASE help out a fellow newbie programmer/coder/software engineer pre K ARDUINO EST. I tank any and all of you for any help you may lend or offer to me with this question.

A tip for you. If you want to have absolutely perfectly straight wire take and use solid core wire like hook up wire or bell wire as it is known in many parts then cut more than what you need be very careful practice with unshielded wire to do this step before you attempt to do this for your art work ok. Take it between 2 pairs of pliers and grasp it very firmly then apply force between the two pliers pulling on the wire being careful not to move it and it will stretch. Now this is the tricky part you only need it to stretch a very small amount to straighten the wires perfectly and then you can take a pair of needle nose pliers without teeth on them to grip the wire where you want a bend and make the bend it will be crisp and clean and no waves in the wire unless the insulation is wavey...

Take it between 2 pairs of pliers and grasp it very firmly then apply force between the two pliers pulling on the wire being careful not to move it and it will stretch. Now this is the tricky part you only need it to stretch a very small amount to straighten the wires perfectly and then you can take a pair of needle nose pliers without teeth on them to grip the wire where you want a bend and make the bend it will be crisp and clean and no waves in the wire unless the insulation is wavey that nothing can be done about other than purchasing very expensive wire and that is just crazy. After you pull the wire check it with continuity tester to be certain you have no breakages along the way under the insulation and you will have perfectly formed pieces of very very nice artwork. By the way did I mention how beautiful this looks you should get a patent on this before underwriters laboratory (UL) or GE scoops it up you have a gold mine here my friend. People always want to know what they are getting and you stumbled onto pure gold. I do understand the need to keep things hidden from the public to avoid copyright infringement or reverse engineering others work but this is great stuff for weather stations or clocks or things of that nature. Plus one can not get any more open source than this for the software and products. Plus this is a great way to inspire young minds to go into this field. KUDO'S to you my friend very exceptional work I LOVE THIS ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS...... I will need to do this with my signs I make if that is ok with you to take your idea. This is the signs I speak of I made these and they sold for $150.97 on the Swan the Mickey Mouse sold for $200.00 and the S for Superman was a gift. The other signs have not sold yet but I think in place of the black back board I could use clear acrylic and show off the wiring and electronic components with power supplies what do you think INSTRUCTABLES???? I will make a Instructables on how to for my next build on a small wall sign like one of these. They work perfectly in the children's room as a Nightlight it is bright enough to read a book by but pleasant to not bother the child to stay awake and if they are animated it is even better. Some of my signs have Fiber Optics in them with RGB LED's to display multi colored dots all over like snow or stars. The image with me in it is to show just how large they are that is my hottest size seller it is 11x14 inch and the circuitry is hidden in the frames for now or behind the backing if animation is needed due to the circuit boards sizes for sequencing of the neon wire. The Fantasy Witchy Toadstool Mushrooms are in fact Night Lights I used INSTAMORPH Moldable Plastic to make them they sold for $197.98 with the special programming asked for by the customer to play lullabies in her triplets room they also are powered by a battery pack that is solar powered for recharge and comes with a wall outlet for when mom forgets to recharge the batteries they also have a small digital meter to show the power level. The Coffee sign has fiber optics in the steam to make it come to life. Each battery pack has a 4 day operating life left on 24/7 it will last for 4 days before recharge is required. This is why the cost is so high on them the quality is over the top. I will make this to see how it turns out using Lexan plastic glass. A small word of advise if you purchase the plastic glass of Amazon.com do not buy from https://www.amazon.com/s?marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=A29P802DGSGI7W&merchant=A29P802DGSGI7W&redirect=true they sell underside pieces of plastic glass and when you speak to them they blow smoke up your behind telling you it is industrial standards now if that were true which it is not I know from expierience everything in this world would be off size and we all know that is not true. Ok sorry I got lost with my reply please forgive my rambling on about my stuff. VERY NICE WORK 陳亮 I love it....

I also build outdoor signs for holiday decorations Them are mostly all solar powered people love the idea of decorating to the 9's without having to pay a huge electric bill. I owe it all to this web site as well for many ideas I refined and improved on to be bulletproof. TwoLipsNeonDesigns@hotmail.com for inquiries on products.

The double imaging you think you see in some photo's is the animation I spoke of it is the neon not illuminated yet it flashes between the stuff to make it look like they are moveing that is the animation I spoke of.

I have reached the halfway point with the project it is ready to be wired into the circuit boards after I build them. Your cubes however may be of great help with my project if I may get some info on the builds they may help me iron out the programming for some of the lighting if you would be so kind to provide me with some build information and possibly some basic code to operate them after I build them to be certain they work properly so then I may use what I have and work with it to iron out the bugs and any additional writing I may do or add. I have been to your web site BRAVO to you Sir exceptionally nice job. I may even be willing to purchase the kits from your store if it would help obtain information on the 4 builds. The current cube if the IC's are TLC5940 chips then that would be almost the identical application I will be using to run the 5050 RGB Diodes I have installed inside the Mushroom and flowers of my project only thing is I have 72 of them in the Mushrooms along with El-Wire and another 47 in the Flowers portion also with El-Wire Illuminating the silicone in my build. The cube would be of great help in using the cube to work with my software in lower numbers of diodes. I am sure you can see my point. If you look at this instructable you possibly can see some of the work as it was unfolding and progressing from basic ideas on a picture to foam mock ups then some in actual silicone.(https://www.instructables.com/id/Enchanted-Forest-Mushroom-Lights/?commentId=CSB3B55J12O2D0X)

That what you know is a safe bet WRONG... I continued to read all of your instructables about charlie cubes and learn where my ignorance was at. See my thought was how could it light up with the common lead intermixing with the other leads but I learned it's not what you already know forget that stuff within reason and start from scratch when attempting to build anything for the first time lol. My apologies sir. By the way very nice work on the Instructables you should be very proud of them.

74HC595 Shift Registers (unlimited Pins) if you use them any arduino can make any size cube you can possably imagine.

How can this build possibly work for common cathode rgb led's? Unless you implement shift registers I do not see how it could work the nano just does not have enough pins to use.

If you like this cube then Challenge yourself to make a 16x16x16 rgb cube using 74HC595 Shift Registers (unlimited Pins). I currently am working on a cube now. Maybe in a year I will have it completed to post back here.

Well sadly all the work I have done to make ALL the colored silicone items is worthless. The SILICONE that was used has some form of acidic properties to it. The mixture of silicone has severely degraded the electronics and now I must start from scratch to remake ever silicone item again. DO NOT USE GE SILICONE TO MAKE ANY OF THIS STUFF YOU FIND ONLINE THAT APPEALS TO YOU. The RGB LEDs lens was turned into a jelly like matter and caused the leds to short out as I went to test for the last time before assembly. If this had not happened I fear this may have caused a electrical short that may have caused a fire. Thank the gods I noticed this before assembly. What made me do a final test was noticing a discoloration to the silicone around the stems of the mushrooms. The blue stem had turned green so I tested it and the led acted really funny and died. I disassemble a few of them and found the issue so now every item I used GE Silicone on to create them must be tossed and remade using RED DEVIL RTV SILICONE or any RTV silicone type. The RTV stands for ROOM TEMPERATURE VULCANISING and that means the silicone has a chemical reaction at room temperature to turn into rubber like tires are made only this is at room temperature not high temperature baking as tires undergo. The green hue the silicone had turned to was a reaction with the GE SILICONE and THE WIRE USED IN THEM. It had caused the copper to degrade like you see when it rots when left outside for long periods of time it actually degraded the insulation on the wire eating right down to the core causing a chemical reaction that retinted the silicon green from the core of the wire reacting with the acidity from the silicone turning it green. I am 100 percent confident the RTV silicone is safe I deconstructed a number of items made with it and all were perfectly formed sealed and protected like silicone is supposed to do. I wrote the makers of GE SILICONE and told them of my findings in hopes they change the warnings on the packages to protect consumers from using this product with any type of electrical use. This is the GE SILICONE product not to use. The other product is the Red Devil that is safe to use if you do this type of work and do not use the highly expensive silicone that comes in 2 parts for mold making and prosthetic sculpting, molding and casting techniques to create advanced cosmetic effects.Smooth-On ECOFLEX 00-20 SuperSoft Silicone - 2 Pint Kit - Simulates Look and Feel of Human Flesh. The clear mushrooms are made with the RTV Red Devil silicone El-Wire and RGB LEDs. The led is shown in hopes that you can see how the lens was turn to a jelly like substance. I did not think to take pictures of the wires how the insulation degraded and caused the wire to degrade turning green from decay. The colored mushrooms where created in January and February of 2017 and the silicone was mixed with glycerine as instructed along with acrylic paint to tint the silicone and this was the only chemicals added to the 2 silicone types GE and Red Devil. The mushrooms discoloration was noticed on April 1st of all days. I hope this helps all of you who attempt making this very beautiful art work. This all was intended for my project I call Alice: Red Queen my alice in wonderland diorama I have been working on for well over 400 man hours now with this set back. PLEASE ALL OF YOU STAY SAFE AND TEST YOUR WORK BEFORE USEING IT.

    Enchanted Forest Mushroom Lights

I have had my own issues with nano Atmega328 boards myself. I have tried to upload the uno bootloader to them to make tremendous amounts of room in the mem but it keep failing to sync and recognise pins. I hope I did not damage them during assembly. I do not think that is the case other codes and ATMega328 program works fine and is recognised in the program itself when I plug them in so it must be so simple it is stupidly overlooked as a mistake lol. I am very new to the code world myself with this type of use but maybe we can work out the issues together if you want to give it a try. I look forward to posting the how2 instructables it is just so much work I have recorded I work on this 5 to 6 nights a week from 7 AM until I fall asleep it is very large board 48 inches by 28 inches to i...

I am very new to the code world myself with this type of use but maybe we can work out the issues together if you want to give it a try. I look forward to posting the how2 instructables it is just so much work I have recorded I work on this 5 to 6 nights a week from 7 AM until I fall asleep it is very large board 48 inches by 28 inches to install all the silicone and leds with servo's to bring them to life and working out all the bugs is mind numbing to put it nicely lol. I have over 150 RGB leds installed in mushrooms attached to fine cables through small tubes at various locations embedded in silicone to make them move as the servos turn to wind and release the cable I used and all the uv leds and EL-Wire incorporated in the mushrooms to get all of it to work nicely together is just too much to handle on certain days lol. I have issues with timing and voltages for colors on the leds to obtain 16 million colors with the rgb's. I decided to use the TLC5904NTG4 to run the rgb's and UV leds. good luck with your project by the way. I will be posting mine soon I hope after the editing is completed I must complete it by April 27th it is a gift.

  • How to Control Stunning RGB LED Strip Using Arduino Nano

how long did this last with the prediction of failure please. I need to know I have over 150 RGB SMD LEDs to control on a project I cal ALICE: RED QUEEN. It is a piece of art using silicone mushrooms and other sculptures of silicone tinted and clear using UV reactive colors, glow in the dark colors and neon colors with animatronics to shimmer the silicone items to bring it to life. It is a recreation of Alice in Wonderland Through the looking Glass mixed with earlier versions for talking foliages. SIR YOU ARE A GENIUS and GOD amongst mice and coders. I plan on using the USB Nano V3.0 ATmega328 CH340G 5V 16MHz with piggybacking the power supply chip to handle the load to increase the power to 24v to accommodate the load of 150 leds. I may use a Stepup-BUCK in place not sure yet.CH340G REPLACE FT232RLOperating Voltage(logic level):5V8 analog inputs ports:A0 ~ A714 Digital input / output ports:TX,RX,D2 ~ D136 PWM ports:D3, D5, D6, D9, D10, D111 pairs of TTL level serial transceiver ports RX / TXUsing Atmel Atmega328P-AU MCUSupport USB download and PowerSupport for external 5V ~ 12V DC power supply. In conjunction with the TLC5904NTG4 DIP28 (http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/146156/TI/TLC5940.html) in my project integrating your ideas if this lasted.

Use thin fiber oprtics type acrylic rod with a mirror at the end to stop the beam or some form of impenatrable material to make them stop at 1 point even if the acrylic rod was the focal point to stop them.
