There are some very nice, leg powered, tread hammer plans out on the net.
Really nice work, I encourage you to try forge work. Pattern Welded or "Damascus" takes a lot of elbow grease, but worth it. It's nice to get a helper with a two handed sledge. A good place to start is with forging scrap steel cable together into a rod. It makes a nice wood grain pattern. Borax makes a good flux. I really like your fastening hardware.
