Excellent! And the pressure canner is still out so as soon as I finish the apples I will use it to clean up the cans. I flatten most of my cans (remove the ends, cut open down the side) as they take up a lot less space that way. I can't think of any reason why this process wouldn't work with flat aluminum just as well but I'll let you know if it doesn't :-)
Great idea to use an old gas barbeque! I wanted to build a small gas fire in the back garden several years ago but gave it up because the 'ring' and other gas parts were so expensive. Sheesh - thanks for turning on the light :-)
These are really pretty and expensive looking planters! Thank you for doing an Instructable on it LuckyGoose. These will be a nice winter/indoor project and all ready to be planted come spring :-)
