    Coiling a USB power cord

I've just tried this. I wrapped a USB Charging cable around a piece of rigid plastic tubing fixing the ends in place with a couple of hose clamps. Then I used an electric hot-air gun, (the type that will strip paint) to evenly apply a good level of heat to the coils. I then cooled the cable in cold water while it was still fixed to the tubing. When cold I removed the coil and although it relaxed a bit it looked pretty good. I then followed the tip to reverse-wind the cable. I held one end fast and fixed the other end to a hand powered drill. As I turned the cable in the opposite direction to the initial coiling it just kinked up and made nasty knotted pigtails. I gave up on that idea and now my cable looks really messy; just a lot of nasty kinks and creases. Maybe I should have stopped ...see more »I've just tried this.
