that you posted on 'step 3 fix it' of your slim cd bookend guide, is quite awesome. Do you know where/how I could buy/make one? What are they even called? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
these things are normally used for soldering, to hold plates etc..
I got mine with a soldering kit.
I think in English they are called "helping hands" sometimes also "3rd hands" (you find a lot at Ebay...) You can also check out your local electronics-store (if there is one).

I hope you can understand my worst english, I'm german.
