Hey, this seems like a really cool object, but what can you use it for?
DIY 3D Printer Enclosure
Make 3d Printed Topo Maps of Anywhere
That is soo cool! I saw an instructables that did something like this years ago, but it didn't actually access quality topo maps. Yours, while much more time consuming, is WAY cooler!!
It is just a sealant, so when you apply it, it turns the wood a slightly darker color, like when it is wet. You apply it with brushes, and it works a little like a shiny acrylic/house paint, just clear. This kind of sealant has to be applied with (at least) two coats, with some sanding after the first. This is because the first coat is soaked into the wood, and raises the grain. Good luck!
If you use a polyurethane seal on your bench top, then it should be virtually indestructible. This is a type of sealer/stain protectant used when finishing wood. Since it's made of a hard plastic, it wears REALLY well if you put a reasonable thickness on it. I don't know if its easy to find in China, but its pretty common in the US. I love your workbench, and hope others feel just as inspired after looking at it!
