    How to Buy an Ex-Ambulance

I have a son as a firefighter & ambulance driver. His statement to me was,"Dad, you are second. The ambulance is for equipment & the injured in the back."

I can tell you I'm a little under 6', & I can't stand in mine, (both are Collins). Both are diesels. Both came with the light packages. (They are worth about $150.00 US.) Both ambulances were bought from Craigslist. Both were bought for less than $5000.00 US. Both smelled new car smell. I could not drive either very far because of my height. I have a construction co. that helps handicapped, elderly at no charge. Money is always tight. I considered both great buys, since both had less than 20,000 miles.I can also tell you that there are LOTS of used diesel vans. NOT for long though. Simply, Ford does not stuff their diesel in the e series. Also, stay away from the gas v-10s. You'll be doing valve jobs.
