FYI, the button I sourced has an LED with a resistor inside. So it's probably smart to open yours up and see if it's an LED or an incandescent, like Bill's.If it turns out it's an LED, swapping the resistor isn't too much trouble.
The button's light bulb is incandescent. I honestly don't know its voltage rating, and I have it wired directly to the battery and switch. If you're worried about burning out an LED just throw in a resistor to drop the voltage down.
