you are correct... you can add a resistor but I'm use this device since very long and it's working like a charm
You can but no need of that because arduino is not giving that that much of output

thanks @CharlyeZ It's totally my mistake... I used 10K resistor and forget to change the value in schematic and as I downloaded the resistor picture from google so from color code you thought its 10M but I already mention over there its 10K..after all thanks a lot...

You just have to buy a FTDI FT232RL FT232 USB And Connect it with your home made home made arduino
I'm using this board from a while and I think its working like a arduino. It is the best way to use arduino for long duration purpose. I'm using it in a project which is continuously working for 24*7 and I have no problem like anything. And according to arduino site it is the best way to connect it with 5V

I want to tell you one thing most of PC or Laptop gives 5V with around 500mA you can't use more than that. And if you are conscious about EMF or spike suppression circuitry let me tell you the circuit connection is right even if you are using constant voltage its upon you to use capacitor. and you can you a diode for specialized electronic component with two electrodes called anode and cathode. at last capacitor is not that much necessary that much but from my point of view you should use diode.
I tried this drill machine and ya what you showed in the last part of the video. this drill can do that much only. You can't use it on PCB or any hard surface. If you want too use it on hard surface then you have to use high voltage motor (at least 12V) and yes it will vibrate more.
sorry for delay!!!ya you can make it dimmerable. but you will not go with this circuit.
