Hey yall, for clarification this is just a basic set of steps that show how DNA can be separated from the cell. In a more lab based procedure, this DNA (without the food coloring) can be run through a series of tests (gel electrophoresis) and magnified. We did something similar in my genetics lab last year. There were many steps afterward involved but basically, we sent our processed DNA off to a sequencing center and they sent us back our exact codes. From there we were able to determine our regional chromosomal origins. Ethiopia, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, etc. That is how I know how to do this procedure. -Author
It depends on the company you used. You cannot determine your regional DNA through this test. There are more steps involved afterward:)
