I'm not sure if you're joking or what, but there certainly are metric screwdrivers (along with other non-SAE options like the more popular JIS) and your father's correct to refer to a pipe wrench as a 'Stillson wrench' as they were invented by a New Englander named Daniel Stillson and are still referred to as 'Stillson wrenches' in many markets (including Snap-On). I first learned about this when I bought a 'Stillson wrench' at Harbor Freight and wondered why it had a funny name.
