One use that I have never seen anywhere, was told to me by an Anesthesiologist friend about 20 years ago, is for burns. Put powdered aspirin on burns, the salicylic acid stops the bodies histamine response to the burn so fluid doesn't build up and cause blistering and tissue death. I can't say exactly what the chemical process is but I do know from personal experience that it works. We keep a box of BC powders in the kitchen just for this purpose.
Mechanics Illustrated, great mag, long gone by the wayside. I think they stopped publications back in the 80's. They had plans for several interesting cars. My favorite was a surfer van build on a VW bug Chassis out of 2" foam board and then fiber glassed inside and out. Always wanted to build that, kept the issue around for years, finally gave up and recycled it during my last move about 10 years ago.
