Tell us about yourself!
I don't mean to be mean in telling you this, but there is no way that you can use this needle for tatting. the eye of the needle is way way way to big. You cant pass the threads through the already made double stitches unless your stitches are extremely loose, which will produce sloppy results. Plus, if you drop it, you are out a needle.Tatting needles are made for tatting. The eye of the needle in the better tatting needles are grooved so that the needle will pass through with ease. Also the tip of the needle is blunt to prevent you from sticking yourself. The better needles are made to match the threads that you are using. A number 5 tatting needle is the same width as a number 10 thread, When used together, they will produce the prettiest results. Keep this in mind for when you want to make the investment into tatting. If you want to try tatting just a few stitches, you can use any old needle, just make sure that it matches the needle width as close as possible to get the best results. Ive even done this with using a pencil as the needle just to show people how easy it is to make the stitch. If you want to do one of these projects and still do not want to make the initial investment, best to use a doll making needle or an apolstery needle because you will need the length to complete the stitch. But keep in mind that the needle will not slide through the double stitches as easily as a tatting needle. If you decide to continue to tat asking for these as a christmas, birthday, mothers day gift, ppreferably with some balls of tatting thread and tatting books. Anyways, I look forward to seeing your work!!! Sherri
