Seems like warming up the soda a bit would help. It might slow down the process since it would take longer to set, but heating a liquid lowers the solubility of any gas in it, including CO2. Reducing the CO2 in the drink causes more carbonic acid to be converted to CO2 much quicker, therefore making the soda go flat faster- the goal of letting it sit in the first place and presumably reducing the amount of foam that forms on top.
