Hi guys, I'm from the UK and cakes made with the creaming method are all called sponge cakes; sorry for the confusion. From my research, I would say this cake is most like a pound cake in the US. It's still light and fluffy but it is denser and sweeter than an American sponge cake.

Yes, dark chocolate works great as well...I just have a personal preference for milk chocolate.

Hi, everything is correct! I used around 10 slices of bread even though the picture only shows 5 but 17 ounces is an accurrate conversion. Hope you enjoy :)

and yeah if it was just double cream / heavy cream it would be really thick.
